"Letter Bomb" Hit Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid, Injuring Embassy Worker

A Ukrainian embassy worker in Madrid has suffered light injuries in a letter bomb explosion.

Spanish El Independiente reports about this based on sources in police.

According to the sources, the explosion occurred when the embassy worker tried to open the letter.

The police have activated their anti-terrorist protocol and surrounded the area around the embassy at Ronda de la Abubilla, 52.

Forensic experts as well as other police units are working at the scene.

According to El Pais, the injured embassy worker has suffered light injuries and went to the hospital himself.

It is also reported that the incident happened around 1:00 p.m. The letter was addressed to the ambassador of Ukraine to Spain and "burned" when the Embassy worker opened it.
