European Commission proposes EU entry ban for all who fought against Ukraine
The European Commission has proposed an addition to the European Union's upcoming 21st sanctions package against Russia, namely an entry ban on all individuals who have fought on Russia's side in the war against Ukraine.
As reported by European Pravda's journalist in Brussels, the proposal would prohibit Russian participants in the war against Ukraine from entering the European Union.
"We propose for the first time to ban from entry into the European Union anyone who has served in the Russian Armed Forces since the beginning of the war," European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said.
She stressed that "Europe stays off limits for anyone who has participated in the invasion of Ukraine".
The EU aims to approve its 21st sanctions package against Russia by 15 July, ahead of the deadline for renewing the price cap on Russian oil.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas has said that the new package may also include measures targeting Russia's military-industrial complex and shadow fleet.
