Zelenskyy Interested in Joint Production of Finnish Armoured Vehicles in Ukraine
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed interest in the joint production of Finnish armoured vehicles in Ukraine.
"We are very interested in the production of Finnish armoured vehicles in Ukraine, as we discussed with the Prime Minister of Sweden. But we need more. During times of war and after, Ukraine needs to remain strong to prevent Russia from considering a second wave or other waves of aggression against us," Zelenskyy stated during a press conference with the Prime Minister of Finland, Petteri Orpo, in Kyiv.
"That's why we would like to produce more. That's why we would like to organise a production forum in the military sphere in October," he added.
Petteri Orpo noted that he discussed cooperation in the defence sector with Zelenskyy.
"Perhaps there's something for us to work on. We have high technology, and Ukrainians have great experience, so it's really a beneficial and good idea," Orpo commented on the potential cooperation between Finland and Ukraine in the armament industry.
According to him, discussions are underway on what cooperation between Finnish companies and Ukraine could look like in the future.
Over the past weekend, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Sweden, where he met with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. During the meetings, both parties agreed on the localisation of production of Swedish infantry fighting vehicles CV-90 and discussed the possible transfer of Gripen fighters to Ukraine.
As previously reported, Finland will soon approve a new, already 18th, aid package for Ukraine.
