The European Union plans to approve a fifth tranche of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine under the Ukraine Facility in the amount of €1.35 million on Tuesday 4 November.

On 4 November, the European Union will make a decision on providing Ukraine with €1.35 billion in financial support.

"EU member state ambassadors in Brussels approved the provision of the fifth tranche of the Ukraine Facility to Ukraine last Wednesday [at the Coreper meeting on 29 October – ed.]," said a source from European Pravda who wished to remain anonymous.

He added that the official decision to provide Ukraine with €1.35 billion will be approved on Tuesday 4 November at the level of the EU Council.

As European Pravda reported, on 8 October the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Ukrainian parliament) adopted two European integration bills: one on establishing a payment agency in the agricultural sector, and the other, in the first reading, on legality and transparency in the work of local self-government bodies.

These laws are part of Ukraine's reform commitments required to receive financial support from the EU under the Ukraine Facility programme, with a total value of €50 billion.

In September, the European Commission approved the amendments proposed by Ukraine to the Ukraine Plan – a plan of reforms necessary to receive EU funds under the Ukraine Facility programme.
