Zelenskyy sets condition for meeting Trump in Davos
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that he is currently staying in Kyiv, which was hit by a Russian attack, and named the presence of concrete results as a condition for a meeting with the US side.
When asked about a possible meeting with US President Donald Trump in Davos, Zelenskyy said he is for now remaining in Kyiv, as he wants to check "how tasks to strengthen heating and the energy sector in several of our regions have been carried out".
"If our teams agree on this, then the meeting will take place. And our meetings always come with some results. Meetings with America must, without exception, end with specifics – concrete results to strengthen Ukraine or to move closer to ending the war. And if the documents are ready, we will meet," the president said during an online press briefing.
Earlier, media reports said that US President Donald Trump was still planning to hold a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
In the meantime, Trump's envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are planning to meet Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev in Davos on Tuesday to discuss Ukraine.
