A new batch of generators from EU arrives in Kyiv
Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko has said that a shipment of 177 generators has arrived in the capital from the European Union.
According to the mayor, the generators have a capacity of 20-22 kW. The city will use them to connect to individual heating substations in residential buildings where this is technically possible.
The generators were provided from the EU's strategic civil protection reserve, rescEU, via the Emergency Response Coordination Centre.
Klitschko said that another shipment of 41 generators from the European Union is due to arrive in Kyiv on 6 February.
Last week, 76 emergency generators from EU strategic reserves were delivered to Kyiv to help restore electricity supply in Ukrainian communities.
Earlier, the European Commission announced the hand-over of 447 generators worth a total of €3.7 million.
On 28 January, Kyiv also received energy assistance from Germany – two cogeneration units for the capital's critical needs.
