Zelenskyy: Because of these hostilities, we cannot confirm meeting with US and Russia in Abu Dhabi
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that due to the escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, Ukraine cannot confirm Abu Dhabi as the venue for a planned meeting with the United States and Russia.
The president was responding to a question about updates on the possible meeting.
"There is no updated information. The meeting was expected to take place between the 5 March and 8 March, approximately on 5 and 6 March. It was planned to be held in Abu Dhabi. For now, because of these hostilities, we cannot confirm that the meeting will take place in Abu Dhabi, but the meeting itself has not been cancelled," Zelenskyy said during an online briefing with journalists.
"The meeting must take place. It is important for us, and we support it. The meeting is important, the results are important, and exchanges are also very important," he stressed.
On 28 February, Zelenskyy said he had "updated the directives" for the Ukrainian delegation for further negotiations with Russia and the United States on potential parameters for ending the war.
Earlier, the Ukrainian president also stated that he sees a chance to achieve peace in the Russo–Ukrainian war before the US midterm elections.
