Ambassadors of the European Union member states will gather for an informal dinner in Brussels on Wednesday 4 March to discuss possible changes to the EU enlargement methodology.

European Pravda sources said that ambassadors of EU member states have been invited to an informal dinner with representatives of the European Commission on 4 March to discuss the EU enlargement methodology and its possible reform.

Diplomats will also discuss the issue of Ukraine's accession to the EU.

European Pravda previously reported on the European Commission's initiative to introduce new rules for the accession of candidate countries to the EU. The issue was discussed in detail in an exclusive interview with European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos.

The European Commission promises to present a draft of the new accession rules within the next few months.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has urged the EU to set a date for Ukraine's accession without delay so that Russia – with the help of Hungary – cannot block its membership for the next 50 years.

However, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has said that setting a specific date for Ukraine's accession to the EU is not possible.
