Bulgarian Navy destroys unidentified drone in Black Sea
Bulgaria's naval forces detected an unidentified drone in the waters of the Black Sea near St Ivan Island on 27 August and destroyed it.
Bulgaria's Ministry of Defence reported that a specialised navy team carried out a mission to locate and destroy the unmanned aerial vehicle, which was spotted at the northern pier opposite St Ivan Island on 27 August.
Service members took action after receiving a request from the governor of Burgas Province, a decision by the defence chief and on the orders of the commander of the naval forces.
For safety reasons, the drone was destroyed on site, with strict safety measures observed.
On 26 August, the Bulgarian Navy identified wreckage from several drones discovered along the country's Black Sea coast.
On 14 August, suspicious objects were found at three locations along Bulgaria's Black Sea coast: a fixed-wing drone believed to be a reconnaissance UAV and possible drone debris.
