Rzeszów and Lublin airports suspend operations for third consecutive day amid Russian attacks on Ukraine

Rzeszów and Lublin airports in Poland suspended operations on the morning of 18 September amid Russian attacks on Ukraine.

According to Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA), amid Russian attacks on Ukraine, the Polish Armed Forces scrambled fighter jets, whilst two Polish airports suspended operations.

"Air traffic at Lublin and Rzeszów airports has been suspended," PANSA said on X.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that on the afternoon of 17 September, a Russian attack drone had crashed in Volyn Oblast near the Polish border.

Lieutenant Colonel Jacek Goryszewski, spokesperson for the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces, said that a drone had most likely crashed or been shot down about 4 km from the Polish-Ukrainian border.

It was also reported on the same day that the airports in Lublin and Rzeszów had suspended operations.

On 16 September, Poland also scrambled fighter jets and issued air-raid warnings in its border regions due to a Russian drone attack on Ukrainian oblasts. Rzeszów and Lublin airports also temporarily suspended operations.
