Slovenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Called Peace, Not Ukraine’s Victory, the Best Scenario to End War
The head of the Foreign Ministry of Slovenia, Tanja Fajon, called the negotiations, not the victory of Ukraine, the best scenario to end the war.
She said this in an interview with "European Pravda."
Fajon answered the question of how she sees the end of Russian aggression in Ukraine: "I've heard today a very interesting thought about an optimistic, pessimistic, and realistic scenario. Everyone would like to see war stop as soon as possible."
Instead, she said "the war should stop" and mentioned the "grain agreements" as an example of how she sees it.
"I see the war should stop. I hear Ukraine should win. Maybe the grain agreement was symbolic, maybe it is a step [towards peace]. We do hope the first vessel with depart. The grain export is really important, not only for Ukraine. It has occurred the food crisis worldwide," Fajon said.
She also said, "some sort of negotiations [with Russia] is possible." And added: "The Ukrainian side will decide when it is the proper time to sit at the table and start negotiating."
The Minister emphasized that as long as Ukraine needs military assistance and as long as it wants to continue the war, Europe should back Ukraine.
During her visit to Kyiv, Fajon also stated that Slovenia would start discussing another security aid package for Ukraine in the upcoming days.
