"Encouraged" - American Ambassador Reacted to Appointment of the High Council of Justice

US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink welcomed the appointment of Roman Maselka and Mykola Moroz to the High Council of Justice, calling it an important step forward on judicial reform.

Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine, Matti Maasikas, also welcomed the appointment of two new members to the High Council of Justice.

On August 15, MPs supported the candidacies of law professor Mykola Moroz and lawyer Roman Maselko with 258 votes.

Mykola Moroz is a candidate of legal sciences, an associate professor at the Kharkiv-based Yaroslav the Wise National Law University.

During the Euromaidan, Roman Maselko worked at anti-corruption watchdog AutoMaidan. In particular, he helped representatives of "Automaidan" to return driver's licenses illegally taken by Viktor Yanukovych's regime. Maselko is the chairman of the Public Control Council of NABU, a member of the Public Integrity Council, an expert on the judicial group of the "Resuscitation Package of Reforms" initiative, etc.
