Kyiv Gets Three Buses with Humanitarian Aid from Finland's Tampere

Wednesday, 4 January 2023

On Wednesday, Kyiv received three passenger buses from the Finnish sister city of Tampere. Tampere's city authorities and active citizens collected humanitarian aid for Ukraine.

Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has informed about it.

As he claims, the buses will help to operate public transportation since trolleybuses and trams are not in use under conditions of Russia's constant shelling of the energy infrastructure.

"Tampere constantly sends humanitarian aid to Kyiv. At the beginning of Russia's aggression, the Finnish city received many Ukrainian refugees," Klitschko has underlined, adding that Tampere was the first city with which Kyiv once signed a twinning agreement (in 1954).

As reported, in early 2023, 10 more Mercedes-Benz buses manufactured at the enterprise Rīgas satiksme were donated to Kyiv.

In addition, Kyiv's sister city from Denmark, Odense, handed over nine generators to the Ukrainian capital to overcome energy shortages caused by Russia's attacks on critical infrastructure.
