US President Donald Trump has again complained that Ukraine had supposedly not read a potential "peace agreement" and said that despite his respect for the Ukrainian people and military, Russia is much bigger and that "size" will win.

"They have to play ball. If they don't read agreements, potential agreements, it's not easy with Russia because Russia has the upper hand. And they always did. They're much bigger. They're much stronger in that sense. I give the people of Ukraine and the military of Ukraine tremendous credit for the bravery and for the fighting. But you know, at some point, size will win, generally," Trump said in an interview with Politico.

Commenting on his son Donald Trump Jr's suggestion that the US might distance itself from the Russo-Ukrainian war if his attempts to stop it do not succeed, the White House chief said that "it's not correct, but it's not exactly wrong".

Earlier, when asked whether he believes the US president may distance himself from the war in Ukraine, Trump Jr said, "I think he may," adding that his father is known for being unpredictable.

"I think he may [do this]. What's good about my father and what's unique about my father is you don't know what he's going to do. He's unpredictable."

Bloomberg reported earlier that European leaders still hold out hope that US President Donald Trump will return to his earlier view that Russia is responsible for the ongoing war in Ukraine, but they are also preparing for the worst-case scenario, in which the United States "forgives" Russia and leaves Ukraine with no assistance.
