Sweden intercepts Russian drone near French nuclear-powered aircraft carrier
Sweden's Armed Forces have jammed a Russian drone that approached the French nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, moored in port in Malmö.
As reported by Swedish broadcaster SVT, the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, which is in service with France, has been moored in the Swedish city of Malmö for several days as part of the NATO Orion-26 military exercise.
According to SVT, on Thursday 26 February, a Russian drone took off from a Russian ship that was nearby and approached the aircraft carrier.
The Swedish military detected the drone and launched an operation to jam it. After that, the UAV disappeared from the scene.
It remains unclear whether it returned to the Russian ship or fell into the sea.
This month, a Russian drone was found in Moldova, near the village of Sofia.
Russian drones have also been found in Türkiye on multiple occasions.
Politico previously wrote that amid incidents involving Russian drones violating NATO countries' airspace, Europe has been considering what active response could be given to Russia's hybrid actions.
