Ukrainian delegation prepares report to Zelenskyy after trilateral meeting in Abu Dhabi

The Ukrainian delegation is preparing a report for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following the first day of trilateral talks with Russia and the United States aimed at resolving the Russian-Ukrainian war.

According to Rustem Umierov, National Security and Defence Council Secretary, after the trilateral meeting, the negotiation process continued on Tuesday at the level of working groups.

In addition to Umiierov, the Ukrainian delegation included Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the President's Office, and his First Deputy Serhii Kyslytsia; Davyd Arakhamiia, leader of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction; Andrii Hnatov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine; Vadym Skibitskyi, Deputy Chief of Defence Intelligence of Ukraine; and President's Office adviser Oleksandr Bevz.

On the US side, the consultations were attended by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and White House adviser Josh Gruenbaum, as well as US Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll and General Alex Grynkewich, Supreme Allied Commander Europe.

Umierov also noted that "the Russian side was represented at a high military level".

"The work was substantive and productive, focused on concrete steps and practical solutions. We are preparing a report for President Volodymyr Zelenskyy."

It has been reported that the talks are expected to continue on Thursday 5 February.

The trilateral talks in the United Arab Emirates follow a large-scale Russian attack on Ukraine. Following the latest strikes, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the work of the Ukrainian delegation in peace talks will be adjusted.
