The US Embassy has dismissed claims by Kaja Kallas, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, that American diplomats have left the Ukrainian capital because of Russian threats of missile strikes.

The US diplomatic mission said it continues to operate in Kyiv.

"The US Embassy is open. There are no changes to our operations and reports otherwise are false," the US Embassy in Kyiv wrote on X.

The embassy also noted that nothing is more important to the Department of State than the safety and security of US citizens and that it regularly reviews the security situation at the embassy in Kyiv.

"We reiterate our message that Americans should not travel to Ukraine for any reason due to the armed conflict," the embassy added.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has also dismissed claims by Kallas that the US Embassy was the only diplomatic mission to leave Ukraine following Russia's latest threats.

The day before, several European countries summoned Russian representatives over intimidation of their diplomats in Kyiv.

The European External Action Service summoned the Russian chargé d'affaires over Moscow's threats to foreign diplomats.
