European ambassadors shown foreign components from Russian missiles and drones used in 24 May attacks
European ambassadors have been shown foreign-made components found in Russian missiles and UAVs launched on Ukraine on the night of 23-24 May.
"Representatives of European countries have been shown parts from Russian Tsirkon, Kalibr and Kh-101 missiles and Geran-2 drones, which Russia used to attack Ukraine on the night of 23-24 May. They contained foreign-made components, some of which were manufactured this year, specifically those originating from Switzerland, Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, China and other countries," the Office of the President of Ukraine stated.
The ambassadors were also shown separate circuit boards from an Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile, containing only Russian and Belarusian components made between 2004 and 2014.
Vladyslav Vlasiuk, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Commissioner for Sanctions Policy, said it is necessary to focus efforts and genuinely stop the supply of components to Russia.
"This would deal a significant blow to Russia's defence production capabilities," Vlasiuk said.
Vlasiuk pointed out that it is also important to tighten control over Belarus's access to foreign electronics. Some components used in Russian missiles were manufactured at the Integral plant in Minsk, including microchips and circuit boards for cruise missiles and the Oreshnik.
The Ukrainian side called on its European partners to step up coordination in countering Russia's shadow fleet. It specifically urged them to stop and seize vessels based on materials collected by the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), the Office of the Prosecutor General, the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine and Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU).
On 25 May, representatives of more than 70 foreign diplomatic missions visited the sites of the latest strikes by Russia on Kyiv's Lukianivka district at the invitation of Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
The building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine was also damaged in Russian strikes on Kyiv on the night of 23-24 May.
