President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that a visit by Donald Trump's envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff to Kyiv is possible within the next two weeks.

Zelenskyy said in an interview with Axios that one outcome of his meeting with Trump is a likely visit by Kushner and Witkoff to Kyiv within the next two weeks. If this happens, it would be their first trip to Ukraine following numerous visits to Russia.

The Ukrainian president said he wants to discuss ideas for reviving peace talks aimed at ending the war with them in detail, and also wants them to see the situation in Ukraine for themselves.

Zelenskyy noted that Kushner and Witkoff remain committed to achieving a ceasefire in order to create space for diplomacy. Meanwhile, he stressed that, in his view, Kremlin ruler Vladimir Putin will not agree to a halt in hostilities.

Despite the current dynamics on the battlefield and his scepticism about Putin's intentions, Zelenskyy said he is interested in reviving peace talks with Russia.

Financial Times previously reported that Witkoff and Kushner had agreed to visit Kyiv for the first time as part of efforts aimed at ending the war.

This issue was discussed by Trump and Zelenskyy at their meeting in Washington at the White House on 28 July.
