Zelenskyy doubts Putin will agree to Coalition of the Willing peace plan
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin is unlikely to accept a peace proposal currently being developed by the Coalition of the Willing.
As reported by Axios, following Zelenskyy's meeting with US President Donald Trump, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer suggested putting forward a peace proposal similar to Trump's ceasefire plan for Gaza.
Zelenskyy discussed the proposal with Starmer and other European leaders last week. He told them that although the situations in Gaza and Ukraine are different, he is willing to work on the plan.
Zelenskyy said the proposal should be brief, with not too many details.
"Some quick points. Like a plan for a ceasefire. We decided that we will work on it in the next week or ten days," he said.
Zelenskyy is sceptical, however, that Putin is ready to consider any peace plan.
During a meeting in London on 24 October, members of the Coalition of the Willing agreed on a plan for Ukraine that includes strengthening air defence and unlocking frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine.
Zelenskyy said the Coalition of the Willing had agreed on decisions that will increase pressure on Russia.
