Polish Lieutenant General Maciej Klisz has stated that the threat on the night of 9-10 September, when Russian drones violated Polish airspace, was more serious than previously thought.

As reported by RMF24, Klisz said that some of the Russian drones, even those used as decoys to overload air defence systems, had been equipped with explosives.

"The claim that these were cardboard and paper objects is not entirely true," he said.

Klisz added that the threat to Poland from Russian drones was real in September.

Polish authorities had officially reported that around 20 Russian drones breached their airspace on the night of 9-10 September, with some penetrating nearly 300 km from the eastern border.

On 18 September, Ukraine and Poland agreed to set up a joint operational group on unmanned aerial systems, composed of representatives of the Ukrainian and Polish armed forces.

Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that none of the drones that had landed in Poland carried combat warheads.
