Zelenskyy arrives in Brussels to attend the European Council meeting

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in Brussels on Thursday 18 December.

According to Dmytro Lytvyn, Zelenskyy's communications adviser, Ukrainian president arrived in Brussels on the morning of 18 December.

On this day, EU leaders are expected to make a final decision on the "reparations loan" for Ukraine during a European Council meeting.

"We've landed," Lytvyn said.

Update at 11:28: Serhii Nykyforov, a spokesman for Zelenskyy, told journalists that the president will deliver an address at the European Council meeting at 11:00 local time (12:00 Kyiv time).

Zelenskyy will also hold a series of bilateral meetings with leaders. A press conference is expected at about 13:45 local time.

During the journey, Zelenskyy held an online briefing with journalists, answering several questions. He said that if the EU fails to agree on funding for Ukraine, it will leave the country in a more vulnerable position and threaten the prospects for a diplomatic solution

Zelenskyy also highlighted three difficult issues in talks over a potential peace agreement in the Russo-Ukrainian war, including the "reparations loan" and temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
