Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has said that Russian cyberattacks on Italian embassies, including the office in Washington, as well as on facilities linked to the Winter Olympics in Cortina, were successfully repelled.

As reported by Ansa, according to the minister, all the attacks were neutralised without any significant impact on the work of diplomatic missions or Olympic facilities.

Tajani stressed that they had repelled a series of cyberattacks on the offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, starting with Washington, as well as on some facilities of the Winter Olympics, including hotels in Cortina.

He emphasised that these actions were organised by Russia.

The Winter Olympic Games will take place from 6 to 22 February 2026 in the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.

It is worth noting that Italian President Sergio Mattarella has called for a cessation of hostilities during the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics.

Back in October last year, Italy's foreign minister also called for a truce in all wars for the duration of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
