, 1 June 2026, 13:48 - Tetyana Vysotska, from Brussels

Amid Putin's threats towards Armenia over the possibility of a "Ukrainian scenario" should the country continue its pro-European course, the European Union has announced increased support for Armenia.

As reported by European Pravda correspondent in Brussels, European Commission spokesman Anouar El Anouni stated that the EU will continue to support Armenia, including against threats from Russia.

"I can tell you for the EU that we stand as a reliable and trusted partner for Armenia and our partnership is stronger than ever," El Anouni said.

He recalled that in May 2026 the first-ever EU-Armenia summit took place, at which the EU confirmed its "support for Armenia and its future".

"We support Armenia's democratic resilience including against hybrid threats, foreign information manipulation and interference together with attempts to undermine trust in democratic institutions," the European Commission spokesman stressed.

Russian ruler Vladimir Putin stated that Armenia may face a "Ukrainian scenario" due to its European integration aspirations.

Russia summoned its ambassador to Armenia "to discuss steps taken by the Armenian leadership aimed at rapprochement with the European Union".
