Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda has offered Ukraine assistance with gas supplies for the winter.

On 5 November. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call with Nausėda. They discussed Ukraine's need for energy support ahead of winter.

"Lithuania is once again ready to help us. Gitanas has offered support with gas. I am grateful for this. We have agreed that our teams will work on it," Zelenskyy wrote on social media.

During the conversation, the presidents also discussed potential threats to Lithuania from Belarus through hybrid attacks using migration flows and aerial incursions.

"I have offered our assistance. We will work to ensure more security in our region and in the friendly [state of] Lithuania."

The presidents of Lithuania and Ukraine have also aligned their diplomatic positions and coordinated steps for the near future.

At the end of October, speaker of the Lithuanian parliament Juozas Olekas said that his country can provide additional aid to restore the Trypillia Thermal Power Plant and is considering using the LNG terminal in Klaipėda to supply gas to Ukraine.

Lithuania also handed another note of protest to Russia's chargé d'affaires over the continuing large-scale attacks on Ukraine.
