Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the brother of King Charles III of the United Kingdom, has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

According to the BBC, citing UK police, a man in his 60s from Norfolk was arrested on 19 February as part of an investigation into alleged misconduct in public office. Searches were also conducted at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk.

The name of the suspect has not been officially disclosed in line with national guidelines, but the BBC and other UK media outlets report that the individual is Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, brother of King Charles III.

The suspect remains in custody.

Police stressed that the case is ongoing and warned that reporting should avoid prejudicing any future legal proceedings.

"Following a thorough assessment, we have now opened an investigation into this allegation of misconduct in public office. It is important that we protect the integrity and objectivity of our investigation as we work with our partners to investigate this alleged offence. We understand the significant public interest in this case, and we will provide updates at the appropriate time," Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright said.

Police have examined allegations against the former Duke of York, who turned 66 today, in connection with the case of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Andrew has consistently denied all allegations against him and any wrongdoing linked to Epstein.

In October 2025, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was stripped of the title of prince amid allegations of ties to Epstein.

Following the release of new files related to the Epstein case, he left a royal residence.

The files alleged that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor had passed official British trade documents to Epstein.
