Poland summons Russian ambassador over incident involving Russian missile

Poland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned the Russian ambassador in connection with the crash of a Russian missile on the territory of the Lublin Voivodeship on 30 July.

"Today, the Polish Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador in connection with the missile that hit Polish territory yesterday," Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on X.

The Polish prime minister did not provide further details about the summons.

Polish investigators have confirmed that a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile, manufactured in the second quarter of 2026 at a factory in Moscow Oblast, crashed in the Lublin Voivodeship on 30 July.

Polish Deputy Defence Minister Cezary Tomczyk stated that a Ukrainian pilot tracked the Russian Kh-101 missile until the very last moment, but was unable to shoot it down and was forced to turn back 20 seconds from the border.

Tusk said there are no grounds to believe Poland was the target.

Polish President Karol Nawrocki expects to receive a detailed government report on the Russian missile incident and will not be convening a meeting of the National Security Council.
