Lithuania supplies critical energy equipment to two Ukrainian oblasts

Kyiv and Zhytomyr oblasts have received new batches of critical energy equipment from Lithuania.

The energy aid, weighing a total of 28.31 tonnes, includes transformers, surge protection equipment, an electric motor and other components needed for the power grid. The ministry said they will help ensure the reliable operation of the power grid and facilitate the repair and replacement of damaged equipment.

Ukraine's Ministry of Energy thanked the people of Lithuania, Litgrid AB electricity transmission operator, Lithuania's electricity distribution system operator Energijos Skirstymo Operatorius, Amber Grid gas transmission company, as well as the Civil Protection Mechanism, which provided logistical support for the delivery of aid.

On 26 August, it was reported that frontline areas in Sumy Oblast received a new batch of equipment from Sweden to physically protect energy infrastructure.

Latvia's Ministry of Economics, in addition to an earlier decision to purchase diesel generators for Chernihiv Oblast, would allocate the remaining funds to purchase 12 more diesel generators.
