The UK Defence Ministry has said that during the meeting of the defence ministers of the coalition of the willing in Brussels on 10 April, they plan to discuss possible measures to support lasting peace in Ukraine and security guarantees for Ukraine.

The European Commission is finalising its proposal on mutual tariff liberalisation under Article 29 of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement and will present it to Ukraine soon.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte believes that "crazy" statements by Russian ruler Vladimir Putin and Russian officials about a peace deal with Ukraine should not be taken too seriously, as they are part of Russia's negotiation tactics.

Defence ministers will discuss an initiative by Kaja Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, to boost military assistance to Ukraine at an informal EU summit in Warsaw on 2-3 April.

The foreign ministers of France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, and the United Kingdom, together with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas and European Commissioner for Defence Andrius Kubilius, will gather in Madrid for the fourth meeting of the Ukraine Support Group in the "Weimar+" format on Monday 31 March.

The European Commission has reaffirmed its unwavering support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and stressed that the so-called "referendums" conducted by Russia in the occupied territories of Ukraine were entirely falsified.

The European Commission has yet to submit proposals to the EU Council regarding a new format for trade relations with Ukraine, following the end of the "trade visa-free regime" – the suspension of import duties and quotas on Ukrainian exports to the EU – on 5 June 2025.
