House of Europe Award: an award for culture and strengthening ties with the EU is launched in Ukraine

The first House of Europe Award officially launches on 9 February. This award honours cultural, educational, media, and publishing projects, as well as individuals and organisations that, in cooperation with the EU and the UK, create socially important initiatives despite the challenges posed by a full-scale invasion. The deadline for submitting applications is 5 March 2026.
The main goal of the House of Europe Award is to recognise those who, through a creative approach, build international partnerships, speak about Ukraine abroad, and support European integration processes.
The award covers nine nominations, including the Leader in European Integration nomination that celebrates organisations from Ukraine, the EU, or the UK that have been working systematically on Ukraine’s EU integration for over five years and have achieved measurable results.
Other nominations aim to recognise organisations and projects in the areas of international cultural cooperation, education and youth work, media, the representation of Ukrainian culture in the EU and the UK, the preservation of cultural heritage, support for the culture of national communities, and publishing projects and translations.
The House of Europe Award also recognises changemakers–leaders of change who, through their professional activities, build trust in Ukraine, develop international connections, and inspire others to take action.
The winners will receive 1,500 EUR, as well as public recognition and communication support.
To apply, you need to fill out the application form: describe your projects and results, and include other materials that will help present your work more effectively.
‘During the war, international cooperation for Ukraine is not only about funding or formal agreements. It is about trust, sustainability, and shared responsibility for the future. The House of Europe Award is our attempt to recognise and thank those who did not stop in the most difficult times. We want to show that not only high-profile campaigns are important, but also systematic work with real impact,’ notes Franziska Simon, Head of the House of Europe programme.

About House of Europe:
House of Europe is a programme funded by the European Union and implemented by Goethe-Institut Ukraine fostering professional and creative exchange between Ukrainians and their colleagues in EU countries and the UK.
The programme focuses on different professional fields: culture and creative industries, education and youth work, social entrepreneurship, and media. An additional priority is put on supporting the national minorities of Ukraine.
This encompasses 15+ separate programme lines enabling Ukrainians to carry out personal projects, or to enrol in courses, conferences, and internships in the EU and the UK. The programme funds cultural cooperation and literature translation between Ukraine and the EU and the UK, along with the revitalisation of cultural infrastructure. House of Europe supports the safeguarding of Ukrainian cultural heritage, the development of creative businesses and media projects, and the holding of cultural events outside the Kyiv bubble. Various learning and matchmaking opportunities, such as Digital Labs, workshops, discussions, conferences, and hackathons, are offered.
