Ukraine's MFA: No Embassy Reported Intentions to Leave Ukraine

Tuesday, 18 October 2022

"We are constantly in touch with foreign embassies that have returned to Ukraine since February 24. So far, not a single institution — the U.S., the UK, Canada, the EU, and many others — has reported intentions to leave Ukraine. All are here," announced Ukraine's MFA spokesman Oleg Nikolenko on his Facebook.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted many false allegations about foreign diplomatic missions, made mainly by Russian sources to sow panic.

The latest example is the sudden "closure" of the Serbian embassy, which actually left Kyiv back in March.

"We appreciate that foreign diplomats are staying with Ukrainians during such difficult times. We are grateful for this. The security situation is constantly changing, and every state should take care of its citizens abroad. With Russia's massive missile and kamikaze drone attacks on civilian infrastructure, some countries have renewed recommendations for their citizens to leave Ukraine. Ukraine does the same when it comes to the threat to Ukrainians abroad," Nikolenko noted.

He mentioned that Russia targeted two diplomatic institutions in Kyiv last week, destroying their buildings. "We call on foreign diplomats, as well as Ukrainians, not to ignore air raid sirens and go down to shelters when danger appears," Nikolenko added.
