Ukraine's MFA Confirms Blast at the Embassy of Ukraine in Madrid

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has confirmed the information that the Ukrainian embassy in Spain was hit by a letter bomb.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Oleh Nikolenko, has commented on this accident.

"The Embassy of Ukraine to Spain received an envelope. During the inspection, the letter exploded in the hands of the Commandant of the Ukrainian Embassy. He has suffered light injuries. Now he is hospitalised and receiving the necessary medical attention. The threat of life is absent. The other embassy workers have not been hurt," he said.

The spokesperson added that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, has instructed to immediately strengthen the security of all Ukrainian embassies overseas. He has also called on his Spanish colleague to take urgent measures to investigate the attack on the Ukrainian embassy.

"Spanish law enforcement officers and pyrotechnic services are already working at the scene," Oleh Nikolenko added.

As reported, the Spanish media reported that a Ukrainian embassy worker in Madrid had suffered light injuries in a letter bomb explosion.
