Zelenskyy to Visit Germany on May 13 - Bild

Wednesday, 3 May 2023

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit Berlin next week.

According to Bild, Zelenskyy is set to arrive in Germany on May 13. He will land at a military part of the Berlin airport. "The President will come to Germany at the invitation of the federal president," sources in law enforcement said.

German law enforcement agencies are already preparing for the state visit of the Ukrainian president.

Security measures will be correspondingly high: a massive police operation with barriers, document checks, snipers and bomb-sniffing dogs.

On May 14, Zelenskyy is to be officially received with military honours by Chancellor Olaf Scholz. After that, talks and a press conference are planned. At around 12:00, a talk with the Federal President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, is on the agenda.

The President of Ukraine will then fly to Aachen, presumably by helicopter. There he will be honoured with the Charlemagne Prize (awarded for work in the service of European unification). On the same day, a special plane is supposed to take him back to Ukraine.

On Wednesday, Zelenskyy paid an unexpected visit to Finland to participate in the Nordic-Ukrainian summit of leaders and a series of bilateral meetings.
