Monday, 10 July 2023

The majority of Ukrainians expect guarantees of Ukraine's accession to the Alliance from the NATO summit in Vilnius on July 11-12.

According to the survey by the sociological group Rating, conducted on July 4-10, 56% of respondents expect the summit to guarantee Ukraine's NATO accession: 29% – in the short-term, 27% – in the long-haul.

27% of respondents believe that no specific decisions will be made at the summit and everything will end up with vague declarations.

Another 13% believe that they will not promise Ukraine to join NATO, but they will promise weapons.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba said earlier on Monday that after a discussion, NATO member states have agreed to cancel the Membership Action Plan for Ukraine's accession to the Alliance.

Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Olha Stefanishyna, said that Kyiv believes that NATO could invite Ukraine to join even during the war and complete the process when circumstances permit.
