Monday, 28 August 2023

President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, has underlined the necessity of providing more support to Ukraine to halt Russia.

"Ukraine needs to get more support… and everybody should understand that if Ukraine is not helped, then Russia will not stop in Ukraine or Moldova," Sandu pointed out in an interview with CNN.

She hopes that, "more support will be coming soon, so that Ukraine could recover its territories and we will see an end to this crazy war."

Sandu also discussed Russia's attempts to destabilise the situation in Moldova over Transnistria, where "there is a regime which is supported by Russia."

The Moldovan president also commented on the death of Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin, stating that "this only confirms the risks that come from Russia, a country where there is no justice."

"this just reconfirms the risks which come from Russia, a country which does not have justice… Unfortunately this is the way Russia acts with respect to its neighbours," she added.

Earlier, Sandu stated that Russia was the primary source of instability for Moldova.
