Ukrainian flag torn down for the fifth time from consulate building in Poland's Przemyśl
The Ukrainian flag has been removed once again from above the entrance to Ukraine's honorary consulate in the city of Przemyśl in Poland.
Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Bodnar posted a photo on social media showing that only the Polish flag remains in place above the entrance.
"A wave of anti-Ukrainian hate on social media has once again resulted in the Ukrainian flag being ripped down from the honorary consulate in Przemyśl. This year alone it is at least the fifth act of desecration of the flag at the same place.
I am calling, both publicly and through diplomatic channels, on the Polish police and the Polish Foreign Ministry to act swiftly, identify the perpetrators and ensure they are held accountable," Bodnar wrote.

Bodnar noted that Polish law provides for up to one year of imprisonment for desecration of a state flag.
In September a cross was cut down from a Ukrainian church in Poland, and one suspect was later detained.
Last week during a match between Shakhtar FC and Legia Warszawa in the Polish city of Kraków, Polish fans displayed a banner reading "We remember Volhynia". The Ukrainian ambassador called it a provocation. [The Volyn (Volhynia) tragedy was a series of events that led to the ethnic cleansing of the Polish and Ukrainian populations in 1943 during World War II. It was part of a long-standing rivalry between Ukrainians and Poles in what is now Ukraine's west. Poland considers the Volyn tragedy a genocide of Poles – ed.]
