Ukrainian company to launch production of attack drones in Germany
Frontline Robotics, a Ukrainian drone manufacturer, and Quantum Systems, a German defence company, are set to launch the production of attack drones in Germany under a contract for Ukraine.
As reported by German news agency dpa, the production will be carried out under a contract with Ukraine's Ministry of Defence, the companies announced at the German-Ukrainian Economic Forum in Berlin.
Matthias Lehna, head of the joint venture Quantum Frontline Industries, said that tens of thousands of drones will be produced per year.
The project is described as "Europe's first fully automated, industrial-scale foreign production line for drones for the Ukrainian Armed Forces".
German plants will manufacture the battlefield-tested Linza logistics drone, the Zoom reconnaissance drone as well as the remotely operated Buria machine gun and grenade launcher.
The cooperation is taking place within the Build with Ukraine, a Ukrainian government initiative.
Ukraine is seeking to move part of its weapons production to safer European countries in order to avoid disruptions caused by Russian attacks.
Germany is preparing a comprehensive weapons partnership with Ukraine that is expected to benefit both countries.
Ukraine earlier reached an agreement with France that envisages the purchase of up to 100 French Rafale fighter jets.
Ukraine will also be able to receive eight SAMP-T air defence systems in the future.
