European Parliament's resolution: Russia's aggression must fail and Ukraine must prevail
On 24 February, the European Parliament adopted a resolution "on four years of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and European contributions to a just peace and sustained security for Ukraine".
"The European Parliament … strongly underlines Ukraine's inherent right to self-defence in line with Article 51 of the UN Charter; reiterates its firm belief that Russia's aggression must fail and Ukraine must prevail," the resolution reads, as reported by a European Pravda correspondent in Brussels.
MEPs stressed that "Russia, its leadership and its allies, such as the Belarusian regime, bear full responsibility for the war, war crimes and the crime of aggression" and called for them to be held fully accountable.
"The European Parliament … reaffirms that Ukraine's future lies in the EU; recognises Ukraine's European integration as a strategic priority for the EU, and calls for the EU and its Member States to prepare for future enlargement by implementing internal reforms and developing a clear strategy for enlargement," it adds.
On 24 February, the European Parliament held an extraordinary plenary session marking the fourth anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
