President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated the Poles on their Armed Forces Day in Polish.

Zelensky' recorded his video appeal only in Polish.

"Dear friends, allies, brothers. It is an honor for the leader of every state to address the Polish people in this way. I am proud that such an appeal sounds the most justified from the Ukrainian state. Our peoples have come a long way and finally reached the greatest agreement in history on the main issue for Ukrainians and Poles. This is a question of freedom. Only together can we protect the independence of our states for generations to come," the president said.

He thanked the Poles for their "historical support" and emphasised the battle for freedom and a common European future for both Ukraine and Poland, in which they are fighting together and will celebrate victory together.

"I sincerely congratulate you on the day of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland. I wish you one thing from the bottom of my heart - victory as soon as possible. Glory to Poland! Glory to Ukraine!" concluded Zelensky.

As previously reported, on August 14, President of Poland Andrzej Duda honored the memory of the soldiers of the Ukrainian People's Republic at the cemetery in Warsaw.

In late July, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the bill on the special status of Poles in Ukraine, initiated by Volodymyr Zelensky as gratitude to Poland for helping Ukrainians.
