About 400 Politicians Expected at First Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea Platform in Zagreb

Thursday, 29 September 2022

The summit, organised by the Croatian and Ukrainian parliaments, will be held in Zagreb on October 25, which will be attended by delegations from more than 50 countries and institutions, including the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi.

Jutarnji List reports about this.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, announced the summit in August.

Invitations were sent to all EU and NATO member states, as well as to the Council of Europe and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

Croatian media note that this will be one of the largest international political summits in the country since 2019, after the China +16 summit and the European People's Party congress, as well as the first-ever event of this level at the parliamentary level.

They report that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, will address the summit's participants via video call.

The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, will probably participate in the summit. In total, up to 400 politicians from all over the world are expected.

According to Jutarnji List, Ukrainians invited countries that are not platform members but express their support for Ukraine, especially voting at the UN. These countries are from South America, Africa, and Asia, but also, for example, Serbia and Turkey that haven't responded to the invitation.

The Croatian side set a deadline for confirmation until October 7.

About 60 representatives of countries and international organizations took part in the Second Summit of the Crimea Platform online in August.
