President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed with President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda the international reaction to the illegal "referendums" organised by Russia in the temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions.

The press office of the President of Ukraine reports about this.

Zelensky thanked Duda for his strong support for Ukraine during his speech at the opening of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, as well as for Poland's clear position on non-recognition of the so-called referenda.

"The interlocutors agreed on the need for a powerful consolidated reaction of the world to the illegal actions of the Russian Federation, which undermine the foundations of international law. Specific steps and measures that the parties will work on in this context were discussed," the statement of the Office of the President reads.

The presidents also discussed issues of military and defence cooperation. Zelenskyy noted Poland's "invaluable contribution" to strengthening Ukraine's defence capabilities and the importance of further increased support for Ukraine.

According to the media, the draft of the eighth package of sanctions prepared by the European Commission includes bans on the import of "certain elements used in the jewellery industry such as stones and precious metals," as well as restrictions on the export of some food products to the Russian Federation.

The Biden administration is also preparing its new sanctions.
