Friday, 11 November 2022

The Embassy of Ukraine to Poland has published a touching video "Thank you, Poland!" on their independence day.

"We have prepared it as a sign of our sincere gratitude for your support", RMF24 quotes the Ambassador of Ukraine, Vasyl Zvarych.

The video, created by a Ukrainian director, tells the story of a Ukrainian family that found refuge in Poland after the war. The ambassador emphasised that there are many more families like this who settled in Poland after February 24. According to him, Poland has become a second homeland for Ukrainians, and the Poles turned out to be friends who showed themselves in the hour of need.

He said that the video will be on air on Polish and Ukrainian TV from November 11 - the day Poland celebrates Independence Day. "We want our gratitude to gain publicity because the entire Ukrainian people thank you," said the Ukrainian ambassador.

He emphasised that Poland stood side by side with Ukraine from the first day of the Russian invasion. "It was Poland that, without hesitation, began to help us, opened its borders, homes, and hearts to us. We sincerely thank you for accepting so many Ukrainians and helping us with all your heart. This lays a solid foundation for future relations between our friendly countries," he said.

Zvarych assured that on November 11, both he and his relatives will celebrate Independence Day together with Poland.

"Ukraine today defends its independence and freedom, paying a very high price for it, as Ukrainians give their lives for it. It is important that we are not alone in this struggle," he emphasised. The ambassador added that the war unleashed by Putin in Ukraine is a war against the entire world order.

According to data presented at Thursday's conference by Polish and Ukrainian ministries: 1.4 million Ukrainians who came to Poland because of the war received a PESEL number; 77% of Poles joined in helping people from Ukraine; humanitarian aid worth 1.1 billion zlotys and medicines and medical equipment worth 51.2 million zlotys, as well as military equipment and weapons worth 9 billion zlotys were handed over to war-torn Ukraine.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recorded a video message in Polish on the occasion of the 104th anniversary of the restoration of Poland's independence.
