Zelenskyy Promised "Not to Lose a Single Day" for EU Accession Negotiations

Friday, 3 February 2023

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted at the Ukraine-EU summit on February 3 in Kyiv that Ukraine's goal on the way to the European Union is to open accession negotiations.

"Today's Ukraine-EU Summit is a powerful symbol that we will overcome any obstacles to strengthen our partnership and integration. Our goal is absolutely clear: to start negotiations on Ukraine's membership in the European Union. We will not lose a single day in our work to bring Ukraine and the EU closer together," Zelenskyy's official Telegram channel stated.

"I am very interested in this. Unfortunately, we are very fast. It may even seem that we are super fast. But we really want it. We think about it and dream about it," Zelenskyy added.

The day before, the President said that Ukraine deserved to open EU accession negotiations on membership this year.

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, while in Kyiv, said that Ukraine would join the EU.
