Spain plans to send six Leopard 2A4s to Ukraine in the coming days, the shipping is to be completed by the end of April.

As reported by El Pais, the Minister of Defence of Spain Margarita Robles at a joint press conference with Ukraine's Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov noted that the tanks will reach Ukraine by sea.

"Four more Leopards are already being repaired so that they can be delivered as soon as possible," she said.

In addition to tanks, Spain will send to Kyiv 20 more armoured vehicles, the minister added.

Last month, Spain promised to send tanks after Easter, which Catholics celebrated on April 9 this year. However, later it became known that Spain postponed the date of shipping six Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.

Madrid has committed to sending 10 tanks to Ukraine, and Robles said the military has been repairing the remaining four.

Spain also trained 40 tank crew members and 15 mechanics at a military base in Zaragoza.

The first group of Ukrainian soldiers who learned to operate Spanish tanks had completed their training (Ukr) at a military base in the north of Spain.
