He participated in combat operations and attacks against the Armed Forces of Ukraine, thus opposing the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

According to Delfi, the Latvian Security Service has stated that Aleksandrs Malyshevs had been present in the occupied Luhansk Oblast since at least 2015 and was a member of an illegal military formation, the so-called 14th territorial defence battalion of the "people's militia" of the Luhansk People's Republic's 2nd Army Corps.

Last summer, the Latvian Security Service forwarded materials of a criminal case to the Prosecutor's Office of the Riga District Court, calling for criminal prosecution of the suspect under the Criminal Code for unlawful participation in an armed conflict.

Malyshevs has been currently declared wanted internationally. Law enforcement authorities have called for any information regarding his current activities.

The prosecution confirmed that charges were brought against him in August 2022. However, the process has currently been suspended.

On March 23, Warsaw police detained a Ukrainian citizen (Ukr) who Interpol wanted for participating in an organised criminal group engaged in illegal human trafficking from Ukraine.
