On Tuesday, May 9, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen will pay an official visit to Kyiv.

"The President will be in Kyiv tomorrow, where she will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and confirm the EU's unwavering support. This visit will take place on Europe Day, and in this context, we sincerely welcome President Zelensky's announcement that May 9th will now also be celebrated as Europe Day in Ukraine," Eric Mamer, spokesperson for the European Commission, announced at a briefing in Brussels.

On Sunday, von der Leyen will deliver a speech in Aachen on the occasion of the award ceremony of the Charlemagne Prize to Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people.

However, it is still unknown whether Zelenskyy will travel to Germany. Last week, German media reported that he planned to visit Berlin on May 13.

After that, t-online reported that Zelenskyy might cancel his visit to Germany (Ukr) due to the leak of information.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree to annually celebrate Europe Day in Ukraine on May 9.
