Envoys of Trump and Putin meet in St Petersburg

Special envoys of US President Donald Trump and Kremlin ruler Vladimir Putin met in St Petersburg on Friday 11 April.

As reported by Kremlin-aligned Russian news agency Interfax, Steve Witkoff, Trump's Special Envoy to the Middle East, and Kirill Dmitriev, Putin's Special Envoy for Investment and Economic Cooperation, met at the Grand Europe Hotel in St Petersburg.

The details of their discussions have yet to be disclosed.

Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov declined to comment on whether a meeting between Witkoff and Putin had been planned.

On 10 April, the US and Russia conducted a swap of hostages that included the release of Ksenia Karelinа, a US-Russian dual national.

Additionally, US and Russian delegations met in Istanbul for talks regarding diplomatic missions.
