Zelenskyy: Ukraine will receive 8 SAMP-T air defence systems from France

Monday, 17 November 2025 —

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that he had signed a document in Paris which provides for the future transfer of eight SAMP-T air defence systems to Ukraine.

Both presidents signed a declaration of intent on cooperation for Ukraine to procure defence equipment from France's industrial and technological base.

Zelenskyy has explained that the arrangement covers eight SAMP-T systems.

"Ukraine will be able to receive 100 Rafale F-4 aircraft, very capable French radars, 8 SAMP-T air defence systems with 6 launchers each. These may sound like technical details to some, but to us they matter. Every launcher, all of these things, means protecting more lives," Zelenskyy said at a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Zelenskyy had announced before the visit that Ukraine and France would sign a "historic agreement" to strengthen aircraft.

The document signed with France provides for the purchase of 100 Rafale F4 fighter jets.
