Bloomberg: Turkish foreign minister may relay results of talks with Zelenskyy to Russia
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan may convey the outcome of the meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Moscow in person.
As reported by Bloomberg, on Wednesday 19 November, Zelenskyy will travel to Türkiye to meet Erdoğan and Steve Witkoff, Trump's special envoy, according to people familiar with the plans.
Türkiye has played an intermediary role, hosting earlier negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. Fidan may personally pass on the results of the discussions to Moscow – which is not sending anyone to the meeting – if there is a positive outcome, including a possible prisoner exchange, one of the sources said.
Zelenskyy announced his trip to Türkiye earlier on Tuesday 18 November. "We are preparing to reinvigorate negotiations, and we have developed solutions that we will propose to our partners," he said, adding that everything possible must be done to bring the war closer to an end.
The Ukrainian leader earlier said he plans to travel to Türkiye on Wednesday after a visit to Spain.
