Germany supplies Ukraine with two Patriot systems

Tuesday, 4 November 2025 —

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that Germany had recently delivered two Patriot air defence systems to Ukraine.

The Ukrainian president said in an online address to an EU enlargement summit broadcast by Euronews that Russia is failing on the front lines, and that this prompted Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin to launch an energy terror campaign. In this context, Zelenskyy welcomed the European Union's support for Ukraine, including that of Germany.

"I would like to express my gratitude to Germany. They have recently provided us with two Patriot systems, and we are now putting them into operation," he added.

On 2 November, Zelenskyy said that Ukraine has "strengthened the Patriot component" in its air defence. He also thanked Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz for this, but did not give details of the delivery.

It had been known since the end of September that Germany would supply Ukraine with two Patriot systems, after German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius announced the decision.
